Be ready for swelling and bruising
After the face-lift surgery be ready to look not the best before you start looking better. Well, there is no need to worry as bruising and swelling is very normal. You should apply an ice bag as it helps in reducing the swelling. Once the swelling and bruising reduce you will see the results.
Keep the head Elevated
After the surgery, the patient should keep the head elevated for 2 to 3 days as it helps in reducing the swelling. Another option is to sleep in the reclining chair if it is possible for you. But, you should not use pillows or bend forward at the neck for at least 2 weeks. Failing to do the advice given by the doctor will prolong the recovery and results will not be the best.
Following surgery, the head will be bandaged. At first, it might feel tight because it will apply pressure to the neck, face, and head so that swelling and bruising is minimized. The doctor will call you the next day to remove the bandage.
Once the dressings are removed the doctor will allow you take shower. Just make sure whatever you do is according to the doctor so that you get the best results.
Checking the Incisions
Make sure you are monitoring the incision for any type of infection. If you notice redness, swelling, pus, tightness, increasing warmth, or excessive pain then you should seek the help of the doctor as early as possible. Also, if the patient gets fever 101 degrees Fahrenheit then also it indicates infection.
After the surgery, you should keep the diet very light and eat soft food items as suggested by your doctor.
